Gertrude Borel Brantley

A native of Oaklawn and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Brantley died at 9:24 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Iberia Medical Center. She was a charter and faithful member of Calvary Pentecostal Church, where she impacted many lives as a Sunday School Teacher. She had a special love for her pastor and his wife…and was very dedicated to God and her church. She was the matriarch of her family, a devoted mother and grandmother who prayerfully scarified her time for family and friends. She was known for her passion for bird watching, flowers and sewing (having sewed many things for church fund raisers). She will be sadly missed by her daughters and grandchildren who say "We love you Momma, Go Be with God."

[…]

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred "Nook" Borel; her parents, Jearsime and Oliva Boudreaux Guillotte; a son Michael Borel; a sister Audrey Borel; a brother Wilbur Guillotte; two grandchildren David Migues and Frankie Williams; and a great-grandchild Chaylin Ourso.
