Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln

Gene E. Coffey, age 75, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014, at his home. He was born on January 10, 1939, in Camden County, Missouri, the son of the late John Milton and Florence Emma DeBerry Coffey.

He grew up in the Palo Community and in north Lincoln, MO, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1956.

On October 24, 1970, he was united in marriage to Barbara Kullman. They have spent their entire married life in Lincoln, MO. Gene was a stock smith, working for Bishop and later Fajen's Gunstock in Warsaw for many years. For a short time, he worked at the Windsor Shoe Factory and also for O'Reilly Auto Parts in Warsaw and Sedalia. In 1990, Gene continued his stock smith trade, opening Coffey Classic Stocks business.

He was baptized in the Baptist faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln. He enjoyed fishing and hunting; it could be deer, squirrel or mushrooms, or anything that was found outdoors.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn, Jim, Rolland and Delmar Coffey and two sisters, Emma Lou Griffith and Ruth Wharton.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara, of the home, one son, Master Sgt. Timothy Ray Coffey, and wife, Juli, stationed in Alaska and one daughter, Kathleen Elizabeth Drummond, and husband, Robert, of Clinton, MO, seven grandchildren, Adara and A.J. Drummond, Danny and Cheyenne Duffy, Andrew, Aaron and Matthew Coffey, two sisters, Maxine Wiseman of Raytown, MO, and Waneta Matney, of the state of Washington, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, February 25, 2014, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln, MO. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, prior to funeral services. Graveside Services at 10:30 A.M., Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at the Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, MO.
