Edith Hunsucker Burns 73, died Saturday at High Point Care Center. Born May 30, 1931 in High Point, Mrs. Burns is a daughter of George Martin Hunsucker and Lucy Belle Adcock Hunsucker. She was a 1950 graduate of High Point High School and anticipated every class reunion. White in high school, she was a majorette and a fashion model for "Rosaine" Women's Clothing Store. She was a member of Clarendon United Methodist Church in Arlington, Va and the Crusaders Sunday School Class. Mrs. Burns was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Unity Chapel 201 in Falls Church, Va.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by three sisters; Serena H. Lowe, Lois H. Sadler and Louise H. Stanley and four brothers; Clemmer, Jesse, Donald and Billy Ray Hunsucker.

Mrs. Burns is survived by her husband James M. Burns and three children; Jerry Burns and wife Julia of Marietta, Ga, Marsha Ann Burns of Archdale and Amy Lynn Armstrong and husband Kenneth of Luray, Va. She is also survived by four sisters; Irene H. Brumfield of Thomasville, Dorothy H. Kennedy and husband Bill of Myrtle Beach, SC, Maxine H. Green and husband Bill of Jamestown and Willie Parris and fiancé Gary Rickard of Archdale and one brother George M. "Pete" Hunsucker and wife Dorothy of Summerville. Eight grandchildren and numerous nieces nephews and cousins. She was loved by all.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burns will be held 11 am Friday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service Archdale with the Reverend Dr. Glenn L. Myers, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Powell and Dr. Tartar and the staff of High Point Care Center for all of their help and concern and the congregation of Christ United Methodist Church for all their prayers.

The family requests that memorials be given to Christ United Methodist Church, Capital Campaign Fund, 1300 North College Drive, High Point, 27265 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
