Civil War Union Army Officer. Captain of Company F, 25th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry∼David was born in Edinburgh Scotland and was the husband of Sarah C Peterson who he married about 1835. David served in the Civil War in Company F 25th Regiment of New Jersey Volunteers. David enlisted as a Captain on 5 September 1862, and was commissioned in at Beverly New Jersey on 26 September 1862. 10 October 1862 David went with his unit to Washington, and in early December went to Fredericksburg where they fought in the Battle of Fredericksburg on 13 December 1862. The unit then fought in the battle at Suffolk Virginia on 3 May 1863. After this battle was completed Company F returned to Beverly New Jersey where they were mustered out on 9 January 1863. After returning home David worked as a Shoemaker.
