In a letter dated Oct 19, 1972 from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Archives and History was "One David Mussenung was enrolled as a Private, 8th Class, Captain Henry Ritz's 6th Company, 2nd Battalion, Northampton Militia, beginning September 22, 1781 for a period of two months, according to the evidence of a General Muster Roll dated May 14, 1778.
Cause of death: David was fixing a binder chain when it broke & hit him in the chest breaking a few ribs. He lived several days & when he was lifted in his bed, a rib punctured his lung causing his death.
