Ben Thomas Rains, 83, died Saturday, March 22, 2014.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum with Carlos Jaramillo, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Ben was born May 7, 1930, in Watts, Ark., to John and Marie Rains. He was a sergeant first class in the Army during the Korean War. Ben worked 30 years for Plains Creamery. He married Wanda Maples on July 5, 1952, in Pampa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Housley; two brothers, Francis Rains and Norman Rains; a great-grandson; and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda; a son, Wesley Rains and wife Dana; four daughters, Mary Swindell and husband David, Charla Rinehart and husband Johnny, Bobbie McLaughlin and husband Sam and Pam Rains, all of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
