Ejner M. 'Red' Christiansen

Mansfield - Ejner M. "Red" Christiansen, 95, of Lexington Avenue died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997.

He was born August 12, 1902, in Decamer, Nebraska, to Peter and Nielsena Christiansen and homesteaded with his folks to Dupree, South Dakota when he was a few years old.

As a young man, he traveled throughout the county until he met Elsie Cassidy. They married and settled in Cudahy, Wisconsin where he learned the craft of building tires. After struggling through the Depression of 1929, he was recruited in 1936 by the Mansfield Tire Company where he retired in 1967 after 31 years of building tires. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mansfield for over 60 years and a member of Modern Woodsmen for over 70 years. Mr. Christiansen was a member of the Tire Sharp Shooters Club.

Preceded in death by two wives, Elsie Cassidy in 1940 and Alice Roland in 1977; his youngest daughter Shirley Cleckner in 1985; a son-in-law LeRoy Bishop; two grandsons, Guy and Ted Cleckner; two brothers; two sisters; and his parents. He is survived by his daughter Elaine K. Bishop of Bellville where he had made his home for the last year and a half; a son and daughter-in-law, Judge Richard M. and Helene Christiansen of Mansfield; son- in-law, Jack Cleckner of Mentor; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Christiansen, Margaret Gage, and brother-in-law Bernard Gage all of Seattle, Washington; and sister-in-law Pat Christiansen of Camino, Island Washington.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 3, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Finefrock Funeral Home with Pastor Gerald L. Wollenson officiating. Burial will be at Mansfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church-Mansfield, 12 North Diamond Street, Mansfield, 44902
