Benjamin Frank Barr and Mary Wilson were married Feb. 12, 1907, and they lived in Hollenberg, Kansas where they had three children, Lester, Leona and Thelma. In 1919 they immigrated to Lacombe, Alberta to farm, bringing with them their settlers effects by railway. They bought the SW quarter of section 6-41-27 W4 of farmland, northwest of Lacombe, near Gull Lake. Son, Lester, later bought the NE quarter of section 6-41-27 W4. Two more children were born in Lacombe, Forrest and Raymond.

In 1938 Mr. Barr was hired to police the cottages at Aspen Beach, on Gull Lake. After retiring from farming in 1940, Mr. and Mrs. Barr moved to Red Deer, and son Lester took over the farm.
