A Masonic service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 22, with a memorial service and military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246 to follow at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. As he wished, cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or Rock Island County Animal Care & Control.
William was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Milton, Iowa, son of Hamilton and Halley Stevig Cone. He proudly served the United States Coast Guard.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline and the Moline Rotary Club. He was a life member of Oakwood Country Club and a 32nd Degree Mason. William founded Cone's Repair Service in 1968 and operated the business until his retirement. He loved boating and took up snow skiing in his 60's. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, wildlife and golfing.
Survivors include his children, Carrel Sagon, Danny (Paula) Cone, Larry Cone, Cheryl Cone, Angela Corso, Brent (Gina) Cone; grandchildren, Gregory, Kevin, Travis, Ashley, David, Alex and Brendan; six great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Wright. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Bob and Chris, and a sister, Dorothy.
