Lafayette Campbell was originally interred February 27, 1863 at Elmwood Cemetery. Burial of Union Soldiers stopped in March of 1863 because the cemetery was not being reimbursed for the cost of the burials. In 1866 all Union soldiers were re-interred at Memphis National Cemetery. Died at Jefferson General Hospital of remittant fever.

Age 22. US Military Service: Co. G 81st IL Inf.,

He was married to Margaret, maiden name and marriage date unknown. She received a widow's pension until the time of second marriage to Anderson Williams on February 1 1866. In addition a minor's pension was filed and received.
