Lafayette Campbell was originally interred February 27, 1863 at Elmwood Cemetery. Burial of Union Soldiers stopped in March of 1863 because the cemetery was not being reimbursed for the cost of the burials. In 1866 all Union soldiers were re-interred at Memphis National Cemetery.
