Betty was born Jan. 23, 1924 in Muncie, the daughter of William J. and Nora A. (Stephens) McKinley. She graduated from Yorktown High School in 1942 and attended Indiana Business College. She spent her entire life in this area.
Mrs. DeWitt was employed with Amber Beauty School for 13 years and Ball State University for 20 years prior to her retirement.
Mrs. DeWitt was a member of First Baptist Church, Bykota Sunday School Class, and she was a former church deaconess. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #712, the Moose Golf League, Crestview Golf Course, Friendship Euchre Club, Rockin Redbirds, and Body Recall.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Donald D.; her son, Dennis D. DeWitt (wife-Nancy) of Sarasota, FL; her daughter, Kathy Martin (husband-Donald R.) of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Blessent of Upland, CA; her brother, Robert E. McKinley (wife-Vickie) of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Velma Paul, Nellie Clark, Alice Nelson, Edith House, and Patricia Jacobs; and a brother, John McKinley.
Services will be held in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Dr. Maynard Hatch officiating. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday or one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to Ball Memorial Hospice, 2401 W. University Ave., Muncie, IN 47303.
