Ardith Jean Pinkal passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Community Hospital, McCook, Nebraska. Ardith was born on October 10, 1930 to Clarence Cecil and Polly Mesena (Burgess) Bales in McCook, Nebraska.

Ardith graduated from McCook (NE.) High School in 1949. She married Fred Alvin Pinkal, Sr. on June 11, 1950 and to this union five children were born. Fred and Ardith lived their married life and raised their children in McCook, Nebraska. Ardith enjoyed spending time with her family, embroidering, and crocheting. Later in life, she enjoyed making quilts with her husband, Fred.

Ardith was a member of First Congregational Church where she served in numerous capacities. She also enjoyed singing in the choir at the church.

Ardith was a Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Youth Group leader. She had the reputation of being the best dressed witch in town on Halloween. Many of the neighborhood children might remember trick or treating at her and Fred's home.

Ardith was preceded in death by: father and mother; sisters, Charlotte Frease, Evelyn Park and Marie Patton; brothers, Warren and Virgil Bales; granddaughter, Shanna Lynn Bales; and son-in-law, Joe Goodenberger, Sr.

Funeral services were Friday, March, 21, 2014 at First Congregational Church, McCook, Nebraska with Rev. Steve Bales as officiator.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook, Nebraska.
