Thomas Julian Newman was born January 23, 1919, to Thomas Wiley & Rebeckah Josephine (Josie) Weir Newman.
Julian, as he was known, served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the depression of the 1930s. When World War II started, he joined the military. While stationed at Camp Forrest in Tullahoma, Tennessee, he met and married Billie Margaret Melton in her hometown of McMinville, Tennessee on July 11, 1942. He served his Nation as a Medic in Europe during World War II.

Billie & Julian lived in Abilene from 1950 to 1981, then moved to Bacliff. Julian retired from Paymaster Refinery and both Julian and Billie were members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2012 and the VFW Post 8566 & Auxilary.
Sadly, Julian passed away on March 12, 2005.
