Under the pressure of business we have neglected to chronicle the pleasant time we experienced in complying with the invitation given by Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Scott, to witness the marriage of their daughter, "Zellah," on the 29th ult., at their residence near New Hagerstown. On our arrival we found the parlors well filled with a select party of some twenty-two couples of friends from various parts of the country, including Massillon, New Philadelphia and Cadiz. Soon after six o'clock the groom, Mr. James Brackin, entered the parlor, bearing upon his arm his intended bride, they being preceded by two sets of waiters, Mr. George Toot, Miss Allie Brackin and Dr. L. F. Scott, Miss Anna R. Cope. The three couple formed a semi-circle, the bride and groom standing aloof. The ceremony was then given by Rev. J. B. McCormick, pastor of Leesburgh circuit, M. P. Church, in a curt, easy style, and upon the interested parties joining their right hands, they were pronounced man and wife. Will not undertake to describe the dress, but simply remark that that the bride was nearly attired in a brown silk. The groom never looked better than he did that evening in his rich vesture of black. After the congratulations were over, all were invited to the dining room. Here again we cannot picture the scene, but say it did great credit to the bride and hostess. After tea, the evening was spent in the usual pleasant manner, expected on such occasions.
At eleven o'clock on the following day, a lively crowd, using seven sleighs, started to the reception to be held at the residence of the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brackin, near Carrollton. Nothing of interest occurred on the way, except one of the groom's attendants would persist by occasionally bounding from his sleigh. Although the cold was intense, the trip was made among robes and foot warmers without much suffering. Here was had company in abundance, being a select party of over half a hundred. Congratulations over and all warm, we were kindly invited to dinner. Here again we are short of language, but imagine yourself at a table loaded with all that heart could wish or desire and that served, too, in the best of style and you have it. The evening was pleasantly spent, all feeling that it was a gala day and we can all look back to it as a happy season. The newly married pair have our best wishes and we predict for them a joyous and happy future.
