Pearl E. (Yost) McCartney, 70, of Carlisle, passed away Wednesday evening, March 12, 2014 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

She was born December 3, 1943 in Dillsburg, York County, PA, the daughter of the late Jacob W. & Clara E. Baker Yost.

Pearl was a housewife and enjoyed babysitting her nieces and nephews and the children of the Monroe Twp. area. She was an active member of Barrens United Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member and Secretary of its Willing Workers. Pearl was also a member of the Society of Farm Women.

Pearl is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Martin V.B. McCartney, III. Her sons: Martin V.B McCartney, IV, of Newville; Matthew S. McCartney, of Dillsburg and Michael C. McCartney, of Dillsburg. Her brothers and sisters: Harold Yost, of Mechanicsburg; Gerald Yost, of Dillsburg; Gregory Yost, of East Berlin; Roger Yost, of Gulfport, MS; Irene Butz, of Basin, WY; Connie Otstot, of Dillsburg and Ellen Orr, of Mechanicsburg. Her 4 grandchildren: Ryan, Paige, Mikayla and Martin,V. Her step-grandchildren: Aaron, Amanda, Chuckie, Ashton and Derrek.

Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 am, March 19, 2014 at Barrens United Lutheran Church, 232 Kralltown Road, Dillsburg, PA with the Reverend Roy Stetler officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening, March 18, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Cocklin Funeral Home,Inc., 30 N. Chestnut Street, Dillsburg, PA.
