KATHERINE CARROLL-PANKRATZ

The Times last week briefly mentioned the death of Mrs. Katherine Carroll Pankratz, which occurred at the hospital at Oconto Falls on May 31st. On Saturday morning the funeral services were held from St. Anthony's church in this village and the body was brought to Chilton on Saturday afternoon and escorted from the Milwaukee Road station to St. Augustine's cemetery where it was laid at rest in the family lot, Rev. Fr. J. E. Meagher officiating at the grave.

Katherine Finnegan, daughter of the late Patrick and Julia A. Finnegan, was born July 10, 1855, in the state of New York and the following year came to Wisconsin with her parents who settled in the woods in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County. There she grew to womanhood and in 1873 she was married to the late James Carroll and they located on a farm in the town of Rockland that county, near Collins. In 1902 the family moved to Chilton and after remaining a few years they located at Hilbert. After the death of Mr. Carroll she was married to Frank Pankratz and made her home at Samson, Oconto County, until the death of Mr. Pankratz when she went to Oconto Falls to live. She had many friends in the various places in which she lived who will learn of her death with regret. Relatives and friends from this county and from Valders and Eaton were in the city to attend the funeral.

She is survived by four sons, J. Henry Carroll of Glidden, S. T. of Milwaukee, Wm. G. of Prairie du Chein and Archie of Gresham and one daughter, Mrs. E. W. Janssen of Gresham, all of whom were present at the funeral. She also leaves to mourn her death, three brothers, Bernard of Eldorado, Thomas of Eveleth, Minn., Wm. Of Detroit, Mich., two sisters, Mrs. Edw. Donahue of Oconto Falls, Mrs. John Kehoe of Chicago, and five step-children, Ray, Lee, Len, Florence and Laona Pankratz.
