Herschel Eugene Myers, 81, of Moberly, died Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014. He was born June 16, 1932 in Higbee, MO to John Russell and Anna Mae (Harris) Myers.

Prior to retirement Herschel owned and operated Myers Transmission for over 40 years.

Herschel married Stella Mae Carroll on February 4, 1952 in Arkansas and she preceded him in death on February 26, 2014. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, John Russell and William Louis Myers and a brother-in-law, Bob Roberts.

Survivors include his children, Debby Sartain and her husband Jerry of Cairo and John Myers and his wife Karen of Ankeny, IA, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Patsy Roberts of Kansas City, MO, one aunt, Goldie Hamilton of Moberly, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Herschel was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Moberly and the Moberly Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, music, old movies, sending and receiving emails, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at the visitation which will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Cater Funeral home. Services honoring and celebrating Herschel's life will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, committal prayers and burial will follow in the Higbee City Cemetery.
