Howard Harold Funk, 96, died March 6, 2014, in Katy, Texas. He was retired from Edo Air (now SigmaTek Inc.) after 32 years of employment.

Howard was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Goessel to Peter and Millicent (Measer) Funk.

Howard was married to Dorothy Seal Baumgardner in December of 1994 in Wichita. She survives in their residence in Katy, Texas. He was married for 54 years to his first wife, Ruth Williams, who died May 21, 1994.

Howard grew up with a Mennonite background in the Goessel area. This background was the basis for his strong faith. He was a godly man who enjoyed reading his Bible. Howard was a great story teller and made friends easily. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was passionate about cars. He was an excellent mechanic and had worked on various autos since his teens. He was also an animal lover and was particularly fond of their dog "Missy."

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Funk, of the home; daughter, Sharalene Jones (Cecil), Wichita, KS; step-daughter, Linda Bradshaw (Matthew), Katy; sister, Zella White, San Bernadino, CA; two grandchildren & three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth A. Funk; parents, Peter and Millicent Funk; son, Byron "B.J." Funk; brother, Marion Funk; sister, Adaline Abrahams; grandchild, Travis Jones; and step-son, Sonny Seal Jr.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
