Bedford DAR identifies a Catharine Walter as being the wife of George Michael Imler. There is some question as concerns Catharine's last name. They specify the Y.O.M. as 1761.

What is documented is that George Michael Imler is credited with a second marriage to a Maria Cath. (Catherine~Catharine~Catharina) Cristman married in June 26, 1764. The entry reads in St. Mathews Luth. Church, Hanover, Pa. as Geo. Michl Immler marries Maria Cath. Cristman, June 26, 1764. In addition, In the Trinity Luth. Church of Lancaster Co., Pa. is an entry for the marriage on February 8, 1763: Johannes Langenecker, single married Catharine Walter(in), single February 8, 1763.

Personally, from Michael Imler Dopson, I believe the Bedford DAR got their Catharines mixed up. But, if Geo. Michael Imler did marry a Catharine Walter she is not the one that later married Johannes Langenecker, and was deceased before he married Maria Catharine Cristman, June 26, 1764. Since Cristman is a German name, Catharina was probably how the name was actually spelled vs. in the English manner of Catherine or Catharine. Either way I believe the current entry in the Imler Cemetery is most probably Catharina (Cristman) Imler; but since there is no manner in which this can be proved will accept that she was Geo. Michael Imler's second wife. She was the mother of his children and I am adding her to the Imler Cemetery, Dutch Corner, Bedford Co., Pa.

Wilhelm Immler was the patriarch of that surname to come to America on the Sailing Ship, Charming Betty in 1733. He is often referred to with the English name of William Imler, but there is nothing to support this. His oldest son, Isack Marcus Immler~Imler aka George Mark Imler had preceded the family arriving on the Sailing Ship Mary in1732 scouting where to settle. George Mark "Marcus" & Esther Teresia (Schaber) Immler~Imler were the parents of the above George Michael Imler.

There is somewhat of a dilemma between two listings which basically address the same personalities within the same grave yard. One listing is the one below, Imler Cemetery, which is the most recent and the other is the oldest called the "George Michael Family Cemetery".

The George Michael Family Cemetery is frankly not a FAG listing mainly because it only mentions one person being buried and that person is actually buried in the listing labeled "Imler Cemetery". The Geo. Michael Family Cemetery is actually a Discussion of the Memorial Listed for Geo. Michael Imler, in recognition of his service in the Rev. War, as declared by the Bedford DAR. This site clearly states Geo. Michael Imler is not buried there, and is buried in the Old Cemetery across the road upon a hill, i.e. Imler Cemetery.
Therefore, the listing named Imler Cemetery actually describes the Cemetery in question as to its occupants. This cemetery is located upon the farm once owned by George Michael Imler. It is called in Thomas C. Imler's Book, "They Planted a Tree in the Wilderness" as "The Family Cemetery" located on George Michael Imler's Farm. It did not have a formal name, as many other ancient rural Family Cemeteries. Later it was referred to as the "Imler Cemetery, Imler Family Cemetery and George Michael Imler Family Cemetery. It never existed on any survey of note nor on Bedford Co., Tax Records as a Cemetery, therefore, all of those names are acceptable, and none more correct than the other. As many old cemeteries, grave markers have long since deteriorated to the point they cannot be read. Several known family members recorded in other dialog are known to have been buried there in un-marked graves.

Personalities listed as known to be or strongly thought to be buried within this Family Cemetery are as follow:
1. George Mark "Marcus" Imler, b. 6/301706, Gochsheim, Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland; d. 1788, Longs Hill, Taylor, Baltimore Co., Md. (Strongly believed to be buried in this Family Cemetery)
2. Esther Teresia (Schaber) Imler, w/o George Mark Imler, b. October 13, 1709, Waldangelloch, Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland; d. Aft. 1788, Dutch Corner, Bedford Co., Pa. (Living with her son Geo. Michael Imler on his farm at time of death)
3. George Michael Imler, s/o of George Mark & Esther Teresia (Schaber) Imler, b. 1739, Bedford Co., Pa.; d. Bet. May 04 - June 29, 1816, Dutch Corner, Bedford Co., Pa.
4. Catherine (Walter) Imler, 1st w/o George Michael Imler, b. 1740, probably Bedford Co., Pa., d. before April 28, 1732 (date that Geo. M. Imler married Maria Catharina (Cristman) Imler.
5. Maria Catharina (Cristman) Imler, 2nd w/o George Michael Imler, b. abt. 1744, probably Bedford Co., Pa., d. Unknown.
6. John Stover Imler, s/o George Michael & Maria Catharina (Cristman) Imler; b. 1788, Dutch Corner, Bedford Co., Pa.; d. bef. 1860 (According to Thomas C. Imler's Book, "They Planted A Tree In The Wilderness" received the Family Farm in his father's will {later documented from copy of that will} and was buried in an un-marked grave)
7. Susanna "Susan" (Heltzel) Imler, d/o George H. & Eve "Arthurs" Heltzel & wife of Isaac Imler who is s/o Conrad Susanna "Susan" (Sills) Imler, g/s of George Michael & Maria Catharina (Cristman) Imler.
8. Elizabeth Imler, d/o Isaac & Susanna (Heltzel) Imler, b. March 15, 1834, probably Dutch Corner, Bedford Co., Pa., d. 1834, Dutch Corner, Bedford Co., Pa. (Infant Death)
9. Barbara Imler, d/o Isaac & Susanna (Heltzel) Imler, b. March 27, 1835, probably Dutch Corner, Bedford Co., Pa., d. 1835, Dutch Corner, Bedford Co., Pa. (Infant Death)
