Services for Antonio L "Tony" Cortez, 70, East Moline are 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, where he was a member. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.
Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Cortez died Sunday May 28, 2000 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Antonio was born July 24, 1929 in Horton Kansas, son of Don and Frances Landin Cortez. He married Jenny Gomez Hernandez Dec. 14 1974, in East Moline.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked as a repairman at the former International Harvester, East Moline for 30 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a avid sports fan and coached baseball for his children when they were growing up. He lettered in many sports while he attended high school in Horton Kansas.
Survivors include his wife, daughters and sons-in-law. Lisa Reisenbigler, Hampton, Susan Fessler, Phoenix, Ariz., and Rose Mary and Joseph Solis, Ermalinda and Jamie Ramirez, all of Silvas; sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Mona Cortez, Horton, Kansas, Terry Cortez and Rudy Hernandez, both of Davenport, Richard Hernandez, Silvis, and Mike and Kathy Hernandez, East Moline; 24 grandchildren: 12 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Carlos Vasquez, San Diego, Calif., Juanita and Ervin Kimmi, Horton, Julia and Arthur Rocha, St. Joseph, Mo., and Frances Lopez, San Jose, Calif., and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard and Lupe Cortez, East Moline, John Cortez, St. Joseph, Mo., and Fermin and Vicky Cortez, Rock Island.
