Sylvia Estelle Turner

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, in Donelson, Sewell & Mathews Mortuary in Hillsboro for Sylvia Estelle Turner, who died Dec. 24 at age 87.
Mrs. Turner was born Jan. 21, 1912, in Milton-Freewater. Her maiden name was McKnight. She attended secretarial school in California and then lived in Portland before moving to Hillsboro in the 1930s. She was a legal secretary for Tongue and later Reeder law offices until her retirement. She was a past president of the state legal secretaries' association and past chairwoman of the Hillsboro School Board. In 1940, she married Glenn Turner; he died in 1992.
Survivors include her sons, Jeffrey M. of Turlock, Calif., and Matthew J. of Craig, Alaska; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Private interment will be in Fir Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Northwest Medical Teams International or the Special Olympics.
