George was born in Shenandoah Co.,Va., Nov. 8, 1792. On Sept.25, 1818 he married Elizabeth Moore, dau. of John and Mary (Hiser) Moore. They lived in Virginia until 1822 when George and his brothers, Henry and Joseph sold their land in Virginia and moved to Pickaway C0., Ohio. Records in the County Court House at Circleville show that George purchased 76 acres on May 20, 1823 from William Woodell for $675.00. Also that on June 2, 1827 he sold it to Ferguson Fleming for $728.00.

The 1830 census records of Pickaway Co., Ohio lists Elizabeth as the head of household with four children. One male under the age of 5, one between 5-10 yrs., one female between 5-10 yrs. and one between 10-15 yrs. We were able to determine that the older girl was Mary (Maria) and the other Sarah. The younger boy was John, but the one between 5-10 yrs. of age does not show up on any other records, so he must have died sometime after the 1830 census and before the time when the children show up again back in Virginia. The reason Elizabeth was head of household in 1830 is because George had died late in 1829.

Records at Circleville also show that on January 8, 1830 an inventory and appraisal was made of the personal property of the late George Rinker, decd. The total value of the appraised property was $223.81-1/4. The following day the property was sold at public venue for $308.52 3/4. Henry Rinker was the Administrator for the estate. Also a schedule of the provisions allowed Elizabeth Rinker, widow of the late George Rinker, decd. the year previous, by John Morris, George Pontius and Agus Andrew, appraisers of said estate, this 8th day of Jan. 1830 appears as follows: Thirty seven shocks of corn, seven hundred pounds of pork, one milch cow, two beef cows, one small wheel, shelf ware and kitchen furniture.

After this we lose track of Elizabeth. We assume that she and her children move back to Virginia to be near her family. Her name does not appear in the 1840 census of Pickaway Co., Ohio or Shenandoah Co., Va. The marriage records at Woodstock Va., on page 425, show that on Nov.11, 1841 Jacob Will married Mary Rinker, dau. of George. The bond was signed by Jacob Tissinger. This would indicate that the family of Elizabeth Rinker was back in Virginia.

In the Shenandoah Co. will book Y, page 340 it mentions John, orphan of George Rinker, decd., Adoph Coffman, Gdn. 12/12/42. Recorded 9, Aug. 1848. And on page 342 it mentions Sarah, orphan of George Rinker, decd. Recorded 9, Aug. 1848. Adoph Coffman was the brother-in-law of George Rinker, he married Barbara Rinker, dau. of Henry, Mar.31, 1803. That made him John and Sarah's uncle. The fact that he was appointed their guardian 12/12/1842 means that their mother, Elizabeth Rinker must have died before that date. On 9, Aug. 1848 John and Sarah received a settlement from the estate of John Moore, their grandfather. The fact that her children received an inheritance instead of Elizabeth also means that Elizabeth had died previously.

I have been unable to locate the burial place of George Rinker or find any trace of Elizabeth after 1830. George's brothers, Henry and Joseph sold their land in Ohio in 1832 and moved first to Porter Co., Ind. and then on to Madison Co. Illinois.
