Charles "Chuck" Lee Palmer died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital. As he returns home to be with the Lord, his family remembers what he meant to them.

He was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Miller, S.D., to Wes and Mae (née Arbogast) Palmer, the third of eight children. When Chuck was ten years old, the family moved to Custer, S.D.

He attended Custer High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Bernice "Bernie" Parris.

After graduating in 1953, Chuck and Bernie were married, beginning a lifelong adventure that lasted for 60 years. Their first child, Steve, was born Oct. 30, 1953. Cheri followed Jan. 4, 1955, and Mike on Jan. 13, 1956.

After working in the lumberyard for a short time, Chuck joined the National Guard in 1954 and was stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. In 1959, the family moved to Laramie, where Chuck was employed by AT&T and Bernie by the University of Wyoming.

In 1965, Chuck and Bernie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior. It was at this time that they met and became lifelong friends with Mac and Eileen Trone. In the fall of 1978, Chuck and Bernie earned their private pilot's licenses and enjoyed flying their Piper 160 airplane.

Upon retirement in May of 1995, Chuck and Bernie bought a fifth-wheel and traveled with Mac and Eileen to Alaska, and later traveled to visit family and friends, experiencing many wonderful adventures.

Chuck is survived by his wife Bernie, of Laramie; son Steve (wife Jama) Palmer, of Laramie; daughter Cheri (husband Bill) Caddell, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren Cody (wife Shauna) Palmer and Chris (wife Chrissy) Palmer, of Casper, Jonie (wife Shannon) Markle, of Laramie, Aimee (husband Jon) Beatty, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Chris Caddell, of Fernandina Beach; fifteen great-grandchildren, Michael, Charity, Samuel, Tristan, and Amelia Palmer, of Casper, Ashton, Zachary and Logan Palmer, of Casper, Dillon, Cooper and Lacey Markle, of Laramie, Isaac and Benjamin Morgan and Nathaniel Beatty, of Clarksville, and Naomi Palmer, of Vader, Wash.
