On Sunday, March 2, 2014, Walter J. "Stone" Barlow, Jr., went home to be with the Lord. Walter was born June 6, 1935, to the late Ottie Mae and Walter J. Barlow, Sr. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Robinson; four siblings, Frances Barlow, James Barlow, Esterline Mayo and Lawrence Barlow. He attended Roanoke City Public Schools and went on to serve in the United States Army. He worked for the City of Roanoke until his retirement.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Veterans Care Center, Salem VAMC, Adult Day Care Center and Salem Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel with the Bishop Delmar L. Jackson II officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, Va.
