Allen M Winterton

Allen M Winterton was born January 31, 1915, in Charleston, Utah, to Moroni and Susa Mabel Giles Winterton. He graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber, Utah. In 1937 he married Ava Atwood in the Salt Lake Temple. She was the love of his life and preceded him in death on December 21st, 2004. He was employed as a laborer during the construction of Geneva Steel in the early 1940's and in 1946 became employed in the plant's machine shop where he remained until his retirement in 1977. From 1978 to 1980, Allen and Ava served in the Canada Winnipeg LDS Mission. Allen loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, welding, computing, and tending his small garden and orchard. He was friendly to everyone, and could often be found fixing something for friends and neighbors. He is survived by four children: Wayne, Phoenix, AZ, Joyce (Lynn J) Stewart, Deweyville, UT, Ann (Richard) Seely, Salt Lake City who, along with her husband is currently serving a mission in Brazil, and Alene (Brent) Neilson, Las Vegas, NV. Also, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchidren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5th at 1:00 pm with a viewing from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to services in the Sharon 1st Ward, 641 South 400 East, Orem. Arrangements are under the direction of the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
