He served in the U.S. Marines as a machine gunner during W.W.II, and was on one of the first ships to land in Japan after the atom bomb was dropped.
On July 24, 1953 he married his wife of 42 years, Marion M. Blodgett of Livermore Falls. She passed away December 28, 1995. He worked in 1 & 2 shipping departments at International Paper Company in Jay; and retired in 1987 after 35 years with the company. He was a member of the Frank L. Mitchell V.F.W. Post #3335 in Jay; and the International Paper Quarter Century Club. Erlon was an avid cribbage player, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. His pride and joy was his camp that he owned in Kingfield and he and Marion spent many days there going fishing and appreciating nature.
He is survived by two daughters, Wendy Boothby and her husband Daniel of Livermore; and Cindy Williamson and her husband Gary of Poland; two sons, Michael Lee of Livermore Falls and Dennis Lee and his wife Cathy of Livermore; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brothers, Clifton, George, Clayton, Roger and Sherman Lee; sisters, Ellen Chamberlain and Carolyn Adams; companion, Phyllis Smith and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Milford Lee.
