Amelia (Rohlfing) Gieck, lifelong resident of Belle, died in Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis. She was the widow of Henry Gieck, married Nov. 25, 1885 in the Koenig United Methodist Church, Koenig, MO.

She was the daughter of Edward Rohlfing and Louise (Baker) Rohlfing, both born in Missouri according to death certificate. (Her mother's maiden name may have been Baecker or Becker.) Lydia Gieck was informant on the death certificate. Certificate said burial at Belle; however, her obituary in the Bland, Mo. newspaper said burial in Koenig cemetery. Koenig is where her husband is buried.

Amelia/Emilie Rohlfing of Indian Creek, Osage, married Henry Gieck of Indian Creek, Osage County, MO in 1885. Mrs. Gieck was a widow by 1910. Respectfully suggested: Husband John Gieck is Henry Johann, son of Carl 'Charles' Gottfried Gieck and Augusta Arnsberger. The 1900 census entry lists Henry Gieck's birthdate as January 1860; this is the same date as listed on Johann Gieck headstone with death in 1902.

Obituary of Mrs. Gieck's husband follows: Henry Gieck died at his home near Koenig Monday morning, having been ill for a long time. Relatives absent were notified and the remains held until Wednesday for interment (Unterrified Democrat, 27, March 1902, Linn).

With a death date of 24 March 1902 provided by Mr. Geick's obituary, placement of Johann Gieck as John Henry Gieck, son of Carl 'Charles' Gottfried Gieck and Augusta nee Arnsberger and husband of Amelia Gieck nee Rohlfing, is accepted until contradicted.
