Mr. Sam Altman, 82, of Dunn went to be with our Lord Thursday night, at Rex Health Care in Raleigh. He was born July 12, 1931 in Harnett County, son of the late Alford W. "Willie" Altman and Beulah L. Tart Altman. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Robert, Lewis, and Howard Altman and a sister, Doris Fincannon.

Mr. Altman was a Sergeant 1st Class in the U.S. Army where he fought on the front line at Heartbreak Ridge in the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Altman Oil Company of Dunn and was a lifetime member of Long Branch PFWB Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #59 in Dunn. Known as "Mr. Sam" to many, he was greatly admired in the surrounding Dunn area community and tremendously loved by his family.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 3 at 11:00 A.M. at Long Branch PFWB Church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

He is survived by two sons, Ron Altman and wife Terrie of Atlanta, GA and Samuel Altman of Wilmington, one daughter, LeAnne Page and husband Glenn of Dunn, one sister, Grace Thompson of Raleigh, and five grandchildren, Kat Altman of Los Angeles, CA, Leeza Altman of Atlanta, GA, Leilani Altman of Raleigh, Casey Strickland and wife Rachel of Dunn, and Kari Strickland of Dunn.
