Guy Louis Busson du Maurier was a dramatist who wrote the play An Englishman's Home and was the elder son of George du Maurier, a famous writer and Punch cartoonist. He was the brother of Gerald du Maurier, a manager and actor.
He was educated at Marlborough, went to Sandurst, and in 1885 became an officer in the Royal Fusiliers. Commanded a mounted Infantry unit in the Boer War and was awarded the DSO in 1902. Commanding officer of the 3rd Battalion but killed by a direct hit at Kemmel on 9th march 1915. His nephew George Llewelyn Davies (20 July 1893 - 15 March 1915) killed 6 days later.His sister was Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, and when she died in 1910 he became guardian to her 5 children who were the inspiration for J M Barrie's Peter Pan. When Guy's play An Englishman's Home was produced in 1909 in Germany it upset the Germans because of its clear and unfavourable references to their country
