OBIT: "This day we have been called to lay to rest the body of Brother Tobias Weller. A man ripe in years, and whose long life has been spent in the services of the God he loved. And who has not only been a lover, and liberal supporter of the Methodist Church but for perhaps forty years, a steward of this charge. And recording Secretary for the past eighteen years. The liberality that characterized the life of brother Weller and the Christian resignation that was such a shining Virtue during his weeks of suffering, are worthy examples for all of us to follow. And may the Lord who sustained him, be the God of our refuge in all walks of life.

And now as we come from the newly made grave of our departed Brother, to transact the business of the quarterly conference, we especially feel the loss sustained by the entire charge, and the name of Tobias Weller is this day dropped from the roll as Recording Steward. And we have the assurance that it is being echoed by the hosts of the redeemed as he is ushered into the presence of his God.

The official members of the New Hope charge in quarterly conference assembled, desire to express our sympathy to the family of Brother Weller, and to share with them the loss sustained by his removal from our midst. But while we feel the loss to the Church and his family, and the entire community, we thank God for this life and Christian living, and rejoice that we have assurance that he is this day with god in Paradise."
