Myrtis Ashmore Church, 84, of Russellville, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home.

She was born November 10, 1929, in Scottsville, to Dell Hassel and Ethel Dollar Hassel.

She attended Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to cook and watch the Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Rev. Robert Ashmore; her second husband, Royce Church; one daughter, Rheda Jones; and one grandson, Gerran Pyles.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Elaine Ashmore of Wellington, New Zealand; one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Al Freedle of Russellville; three step-daughters, Joyce Stewart of California; Linda Benge and her husband Robert of California; and Brenda Applegate and her husband Paul of Missouri; four sisters-in-law, Peggy Lawrence of Russellville, Polly Johnson of Russellville, Ada Pendergraft of Russellville, and Lillian Hassel of Napa, California; a brother in law, Les Church and his wife Bonita of Russellville; four grandchildren, Mark Ashmore, Stephanie Cullum, Amanda Ashmore, and Jason Pyles; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hali Pyles, Hailey Turner, Austin, Allison, and Cole Leavell, and Emma and Elijah Cottingham; the mothers of her great-grandchildren, Alicia Pyles and Amy Cottingham; and two great-great-grandchildren, Raiden Brown and Silas Gossett.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Mark Simmons and Father Larry Ashmore. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time in the chapel. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Active pallbearers will be: Mark Weaver, Austin Leavell, Jacob Pyles, Steve Corbin, Seth Cottingham, and Max Trowbridge.
