Emmet Ray Shiplett
Ray Shiplett, 62, well known former resident of this county died Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at his home 101 East Broadway, New Lexington. He had been ill since last October but had been serious ever since suffering a cerebral hemmorage 10 days ago.
Born in Hopewell he was the son of Alfred and Martha Shiplett. Prior to his illness he was a highway construction foreman. He had resided in New Lexington for the past 20 years. Mr. Shiplett was a member of the Lodge No. 250 F. & A.M. Chapter 149, Council No. 75 Knights Templar and the Order of Eastern Star all of New Lexington, he also belonged to the Methodist Church there.
The deceased is survived by his widow Effie Shiplett, and a nephew James Ansel, both of the home, three brothers Joseph of Somerset, Cyrus of Clayton Township, Perry County, and William Shiplett of Akron, a sister Mrs. John C Williams of New Lexington, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body was removed to the Bateman Funeral Home in this city and will be returned to the home this evening.
