Wilma Picolet, 91, Frankfort, Kansas died
Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at the home of her
daughter, Darlene, in Hiawatha, Kansas.
Wilma moved there in March 2000.
She was born May 2, 1909 in Lucas, the
daughter of Ira and Myrtle (Gregory)
Duncan. She did housecleaning in
several homes and businesses in the
Frankfort area for many years.
Mrs. Picolet was a member of the Royal
Neighbors.
She married Loran V. Picolet on November
28, 1927. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Mrs. Picolet also was preceded in death by a
daughter, Dorothy Simons on October 4,1978
her parents, brothers, Frank Floyd and Robert
and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include five sons, Dean Picolet,
McFarland, Kansas, Dale Picolet St. Louis,
Missouri, Marvin Picolet, Manhattan, Kansas
Merle Picolet, Glenwood, Kansas, Jim Picolet,
Frankfort, Kansas; three daughters, Betty
Hoddins, Montoursville, PA, Darlene, Neme-
chek, Hiawatha, Kansas, and Judy Fleeker,
Manhattan, Kansas; a brother, Lawrence
Duncan Shell Knob, Missouri; a sister, Velma
Negle, Lucas, Kansas; 26 grandchildren, 36
great-grandchildren, and two great-great-
grandchildren.
Wilma, or Ma Pick as she was called, enjoyed
playing the piano, bingo and pitch, (she didn't
like to lose). She loved he Pepsi Cola.
Everywhere she was seen, she had a Pepsi in
her hand. She played a number of years in
the Picolet orchestra. She was a neat lady
and had a terrific sense of humor. She was
also known by many as Ma Picolet, Grannie
Picolet, or even Go Go Grannie.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m.
Saturday, July 15, 2000 at the Padden
Funeral Chapel in Frankfort, Kansas with
Reverend Sam Wood officiating.
Janet Plegge was the organist and Lorene
Shearer was the soloist that provided the
Music.
Burial was in Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
