Mary lived in Michigan until about 1911, when her parents moved to Nebraska - first to North Platte then to Kearney. Mary attended elementary through most of high school in Kearney, including when she lived with her brother Joseph Williams while attending Kearney Longfellow High School where she studied Normal Training for future rural teachers. Mary moved back to Berrien County Michigan where in 1927 she graduated High School in Three Oaks High School, then went on to attend Western State Teachers College in Kalamazoo, Michigan, after which Mary became a school teacher.
Mary first married Joseph F Taylor from La Porte County, Indiana. Mary and Joseph had one son, James Richard Taylor.
Mary second married Jesse A Hocutt, a widower.
After Jesse died in 1968 in Berrien County, Michigan, Mary moved to Willoughby, Ohio to live near to her son James R. Taylor.
