Adolphus Gerald Dempsey Sr., 92, formerly of Comet Street, Anderson died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Oakmont Nursing Home inGreenville.
Born in Landrum, he was a member of the Anderson First Baptist church, where he was active for over 40 years. He was a member of the Baracca Sunday school class and the men's chorus.
He was also active in the Electric City Lions Club after his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Willie Lee Dempsey of the home; sons, A. Gerald Dempsey Jr. of Taylors and Jerry C. Dempsey of Greenville; daughter, Barbara Dempsey Mishoe of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Adella Ballew and Irene Farrell of Tryon, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was a son of the late Edward and Ila Moore Dempsey. He was preceded in death by brothers, Thurman, Bernard ad Nathan Dempsey; and a sister, May D. Alverson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at The McDougald Funeral Home chapel by Dr. James R. Thomason; burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
