On Sunday evening, May 15, just as the day closed, Esther, daughter of Dolphin and Anna Triplett, closed the book of her earthly life. Her work was done and she went to receive her reward. She had been sick for more than ten months with that dread disease consumption. All was done that kind friends and neighbors could do to alleviate her suffering. She was nearly twenty-three years of age a member of the Baptist church for five years. She was always cheerful during her sickness. For several days before her death, she realized that the end was near, assuring her friends she was ready to go. Just before her death, she bid all her relatives and friends an affectionate farewell and expressed a desire that her departure for the better world might come quickly. On Tuesday the remains, followed by a large concourse of friends, were taken to the Baptist cemetery, two miles south of town for interment.
