Lester Theodore Pearson, age 95, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society. Lester was born April 25, 1918 on the family farm south of Red Oak, the son of Andrew and Sadie (Abrahamson) Pearson. He graduated from Coburg High School and started a long career in farming. Lester was united in marriage to Margaret Hultman on December 4, 1941 at Fremont Covenant Church in Page County, Iowa. Lester and Margaret farmed and raised livestock on the Pearson Century Farm. Lester was a true animal husbandman who loved farming everyday of his life. Lester lived in the same house for 87 years until he and Margaret moved to Arlington Place in 2005. They made Good Samaritan Society their home in 2008. Lester was a long time member of the First Covenant Church where he served as Trustee and Deacon. He was involved with 4-H for many years, served on the Coburg School Board as President, and was a member of the Farm Bureau. Lester's pastime was spent playing golf, bowling, fishing, and spending time with family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Margaret on March 30, 2009; son: Tommy; brothers: Earl and Raymond Pearson; sister: Doris Peterson; son-in-law: Bruce Carlson; daughter-in-law: Paula Pearson; and grandson-in-law: Lance Orton. Survivors include his children: Deanna Carlson of Minneapolis, MN; Bonnie Viner and husband Howard of Emerson, IA; Ted Pearson and wife Joyce of Red Oak, IA; and Randy Pearson of Emerson, IA; grandchildren: Vanessa Johnson and husband Peter of Chicago, IL; Max Carlson of Minneapolis, MN; Linda Hopp and husband John of Sabetha, KS; Maggie Seeliger and husband Tyson of Dubai, United Arab Emerates; Adam Hart and wife Terri of Gillette, WY; Lauren Viner of St. Paul, MN; Nicholas Viner and wife Cara of Iowa City, IA; Anna Margaret Viner of Chicago, IL; and Ellen Barr and husband Mackay of El Paso, TX; great grandchildren: Kjersten, Annika, and Anders Johnson; Levi and Leigha Orton; Annabelle Seeliger; and Paisley Hart; great great granddaughter: Madelynn Orton; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the First Covenant Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-7 PM Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Covenant Church.
