Edward Anderson Sr. MORGANTON Edward Carl Anderson Sr., 99, of Morganton, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Grace Ridge Retirement Community in Morganton. He was born June 22, 1914 in Johns River Township of Caldwell County, to the late Ambrose Plato (A.P.) Anderson Sr. and Vera Estelle Houck Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhemina (Willa) Rockett Anderson; one son, E. Carl Anderson Jr.; and siblings, Geneva Watson, Annie Owen, Charles Wilson Anderson, Mary Louise Wilson and Harold Jackson "Jack" Anderson. Mr. Anderson lived a full life with accomplishments in both his personal and professional life. He was a life deacon at First Baptist Church Lenoir and past president of Lenoir Lion's Club and past president of Caldwell County Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Caldwell County Economic Development Commission. Carl was President and Chairman of the Board of Anderson Truck Line, Inc. He served as President and Director Emeritus of N.C. Trucking Association and on the Board of Directors for South Carolina and Georgia Trucking Associations. He held the position of North Carolina State Vice President to the American Trucking Association where he was recognized as a pioneer in the trucking industry. Carl achieved the rank of 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. Additionally he was the Grand Chancellor Commander of N.C. Knights of Pythias.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lenoir conducted by Dr. David Smith. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Lenoir, Memorial Fund, 304 Main St., NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
