Mr. Anderson was Baptist by faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir. He was owner and operator with Anderson Truck Lines for 42 years. After retiring, he worked for his brother, A.P. Anderson Jr., at Caldwell Freight Lines until the early 90's. He received numerous driving awards from Anderson truck lines, including the 1,000,000 mile safe driving award from Mack trucks. He was also a veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Wilson and Annie Owens.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen Haskins Anderson of the home; two sons and daughters in law, Charles L. Anderson and Linda of Hudson, J. Albert and Camille Anderson of Hudson; three brothers, E. Carl Anderson, Sr. of Morganton, A.P. Anderson, Jr. of Lenoir, and Jack Anderson of Lenoir; three sisters, Geneva Watson, Ruth Michael, and Polly Eller, all from Lenoir; one granddaughter, Lea A. Kaplan of Arlington, VA; two step grandsons, Dustin Crump and Dylan Crump, both of Lenoir; he is also survived by numerous other relatives.
A celebration of Mr. Anderson's life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2009 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir with Doctor David Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with military honors.
The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Service on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service.
