Marcia was married to Edward Janney Norris in Chevy Chase, Maryland in 1959. A son, Geoffrey Allen Norris, was born in 1962 in San Jose. In 1964, Marcia and Ed moved to the Peninsula, as Ed received a teaching appointment in the English Department at Monterey Peninsula College.

A daughter, Mary Ann Norris, was born in 1965 at Community Hospital. Marcia and Ed raised their family in Carmel Highlands and later on the Big Sur Coast, near Garrapata Beach.

Marcia and Ed divorced in 1981 and Marcia spent the next decades of her life focusing on her professional career.
