Glenn E. Allee, 84, passed away November 8, 2000, at Mary Bartz VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. He was a resident of Gary, Indiana for 53 years. He was born July 29, 1916, in Eldon, Missouri to Mason B. and Sarah Ann Thurston Allee who preceded him in death.

Glenn graduated from Eldon High School in 1934. He was an outstanding athlete all 4 years of school excelling in basketball. At the time he was drafted into the Army he was working for the Union Electric Company. He entered the Army in October,1941, and served most of the years in the South Pacific area until the war was over. He was a baptized member of the Baptist Church. After arriving in Gary in 1947 he worked for U.S. Steel in the Merchant Mill until his retirement in 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Winnie; step daughter, Sharon N. Carr of Merrillville; three grandchildren, John(Angie) Carr of Keota, Iowa, Cheryl (Kevin) Cunningham of Crown Point, and Jennifer (Tony) Waldschmidt of Highland; five great grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua and Ryan Carr of Keota Iowa, and Ashley and Kevin Cunningham of Crown Point; sister , Jean (Keith) Bolt of Eldon, MO; niece, Pam (Mike) Ahart of Eldon, MO; nephews, Jeff and Jason Ahart of Eldon and many other special nieces, nephews and friends. He was, also, preceded in death by his brother, Bert B. Allee.

A special tribute should be made to the wonderful and compassionate caregivers of the Mary Bartz Hospice Center. Although his stay there was short the staff made Glenn and his family as comfortable as possible. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Rendina Funeral Home,5100 Cleveland Street,Merrillville. Funeral service 1:30 p.m. Saturday from.the chapel with Porter County VNA Hospice Chaplain, Bettye Green, officiating. Burial, Calumet Park Cemetery.
