Edwin Halley Is Called By Death
Last Of His Family Succumbs To Stroke Of Paralysis - Funeral Sunday
Edwin R. Halley died at 11:30 o'clock last night at his home at 718 Ashland avenue. His death was due to paralysis, a stroke suffered Thursday morning rendered him unconscious and he never recovered. He suffered his first stroke about five years ago.
Deceased was sixty-four years of age and had spent nearly all of his life in this vicinity, living in Rockford the last fourteen years. He was the son of William Halley and Christian Mackie Halley and was born in Rockton where most of his life was spent. He was the last of his family, his parents, wife and daughter all being dead. He is survived by a niece, a nephew, and several cousins. Funeral arrangements have been held up until definate word is received from relatives in New Providence, Ia. Burial will likely take place Sunday afternoon, however. The Rev. Chesteen Smith of the Court Street church of which the deceased was a memeber will officiate and burial will be in ther West Side cemetery where the wife and daughter are interred.
