U.S. Congressman. During the Texas War for independence, he served in the Texas Army under General Sam Houston, (1836 to 1837). After the war, he relocated to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, in 1840. There he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1847 and practiced law. He was elected Burgess of Wellsboro and elected as a Democrat to the Forty-second Congress, serving (1871 to 1873). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was the president of the Wellsboro & Lawrenceville Railroad and of the Pennsylvania division of the Pine Creek road. He later died in retirement at age 83.
