Obituary

Frank Abrams, Jr.

March 2, 2013

Frank Abrams, Jr., "Papa Bear", 85, of Lakeport, Florida, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, peacefully at his home. Born in Robinson Creek, Kentucky, he moved to Fort Myers, Florida, from Ohio in the 1940s. He was the eldest of his siblings; none survive him. Frank was a WWII veteran, serving in Japan as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army. He married the late Robelia Sheffield, and is survived by their children James Abrams, Leroy (Christine) Abrams, Connie (Donald) Soto, and Robert Abrams. Frank later married Mary Newkirk, and she loved and cared for him until his passing. He owned and operated Frank's Supply, and was a truck driver until he retired in the 1990s. Most of all, Frank enjoyed time spent on an airboat fishing Lake Okeechobee; so much so, that he made it a family pastime where all of his relatives can vouch that they have "grown up" on the Lake. There can be no better Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to the generations that followed him. In the words of one of his Great-Granddaughters, Frank "accomplished so much in life, which is truly admirable and inspiring to so many people". A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 1:30pm - 4:30pm at the VFW in North Fort Myers. Please join his family in honoring and remembering Frank's life.
