Bernard L. Grossman, 82, formerly of Kingston, Pa, passed away in Lake Worth, Fla., where he lived the past 16 years, on Jan. 16, 2007.

He was an Eternal Light member of Temple Israel, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where he was a past member of their Board of Trustees.

He was also a member of Temple Beth Tikvah, Greenacres, Fla., where he was the treasurer of the Federation of Men's Club and was honored by receiving the "Man of the Year" award on two occasions.

Mr. Grossman was employed by Peoples Furniture for over 40 years, where he was the controller and general manager.

He was a past president of the Wyoming Valley West Band Parents Association. In addition, he was immediate past president of the Willow Bend Master Association Inc., a position he held the past 10 years, where he helped govern a complex of over 600 units.

Bernard was a past coordinator of the AARP/IRS program, which helped seniors and others who needed help filing their income taxes each year.

He was a Mason and a Shriner, belonging to the King Hiram Lodge and Irem Temple in Wilkes-Barre.

Mr. Grossman was a graduate of Plains High School and the University of Scranton.

Mr. Grossman is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Beverly Finkelstein; four sons and daughters-in-law, namely, Dr. Ira and Debbie Grossman, Dr. Richard and Fran Grossman, Dr. Monte and Kris Grossman and Dr. Loren and Lisa Grossman; also 11 grandchildren, Marisa, Andrea, Bailey, Sofie, Mollie, Jarod, Kelsey, Gabrielle, Evan, Carly and Benjamin. Surviving also are sisters Surilla G. Aqua, Pearl G. Kornblau, and brothers Milton and Asher Grossman.

Funeral services will be held today at noon at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi Larry Kaplan and Cantor Ahron Abraham officiating.

Interment will be in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Shiva will be observed at the home of Loren Grossman, 836 Nandy Drive, Kingston, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407, or charity of donor's choice.
