Born July 6, 1909, in Madera, CA, the youngest child of the Ghelardi family, she passed into rest on February 15, 2005, at age 95. Preceded in death by husband John Badella , she is survived by daughter Dolores Badella Schultz, granddaughter Debra and her husband Jeff, and great-grandsons Matthew and Daniel. An Elk Grove resident from 1932 to 1972, she was widely known in the community for her beautiful home and garden at the intersection of Elk Grove Blvd. and Waterman Rd. Visitors to the area returned yearly for her seasonal cherry and walnut harvests, and friends and family often left after a visit with the gift of a living plant, a box of fruit or vegetables, or a tray of sweets. She relocated to the South Land Park area of Sacramento in 1972, where she lived until 1996. Friends and family are welcome for visitation at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd., on Monday from 2:00-6:00 PM and are invited to attend services there at Noon on Feb. 22. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Aid Society of No. Calif., 2641 Cottage Way, Ste 4, Sacramento, CA 95825, or the Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95616.
