Bruce James Arrowood, 80 of Flat Rock, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Elizabeth House.

A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Herbert & Lokie Arrowood. He is also preceded in death by a brother Justin Arrowood. Bruce served in the US Army in the 63rd Engineer Battalion (Combat). He was a member of East Flat Rock Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Bruce also worked for many years with General Electric and First Federal Savings & Loan.

He was a beloved member of the Henderson County community, with a wide range of friends, and enjoyed many activities throughout is life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gladys Arrowood; two sons, Kenny Arrowood and his wife Evon Anders and Michael Arrowood all of Hendersonville; two granddaughters, Summer Arrowood of Nashville, TN and Holly Arrowood of Chapel Hill, NC; one brother, Donald Arrowood and his wife Betty; a sister Jerleen McEntire and her husband Jesse, all of Rutherfordton; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at East Flat Rock First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
