Mr. Billy Barry, age 69, of 312 Pineview
Drive, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at
his residence. Funeral services were held
at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Faith
Baptist Church with Rev. D Fountain, Rev. W
Hall and Rev. A Hines officiating. Interment
followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
A native of Tift County, Mr. Barry was born
November 11, 1939, a son of the late Bernie
McClain Barry and Mary Estelle Gay Barry.
He was a former police officer for the city
of Plains, a volunteer with Sumter Regional
Hospital Auxiliary and was retired from
Georgia Southwestern State University.
Mr. Barry was amember of Faith Baptist
Church where he was adeacon and served as
song leader for many years.
A visitation was held from 6 to 8 pm, Friday,
June 12, 2009 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel.
The family requests that memorial contributions
be made to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County,
P. O. Box 1434, Americus, Ga. 31709, Sumter
Regional Hospital Auxiliary, c/o Cricket Johnson,
P. O. Box 1607, Americus, Ga. 31709 or to the
American Cancer Society, c/o Ann Harris, 1801
Rose Avenue, Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors
include his wife of 43 years, of Americus; one
daughter and son-in-law, one son and daughter
-in-law, of Ellaville; four brothers and sisters
-in-law, of Americus, of Perry, and of Stuart,
Fl.; four grandchildren, and his mother-in-law,
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law and one
brother-in-law.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty
McLendon and two brothers, J. D. Barry and
