VERONA -- Mrs. Gladys C. Fischer, 65, of Bridge St. Verona RD 2, wife of John G. Fischer, died yesterday in Oneida City Hospital after a three-month illness.
She was born in Bombay, N.Y., daughter of Peter and Victoria Blair Durant. She was married in 1936 in Verona. Mrs. Fischer had lived in Verona for more than 40 years, coming from Bombay.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rome and was active in church affairs. She was a member of the Daylight Friendship Club of the Verona Senior Citizens. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughter, Mrs. Edward (Ruth) Warburton, West Grave, Pa., and Miss Shirley R. Fischer, Philadelphia, Pa. Six brothers, Lawrence Durant, Canastota, Floyd Durant, Vernon, Adelbert, Vernon Center; Wesley Durant, Verona, Leland Durant, Sherrill, and Leslie Durant, Poughkeepsie; a sister Mrs. Orion (Lyle) Durham, Oneida.
The funeral will be at 10 Wednesday from the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home, Rome with burial in Verona Cemetery. Calling hours at 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today and Tuesday.
