Vernon. Jan. 24 — Henry J. Durant,
60, passed away late Saturday
afternoon at his home near this
village on the Seneca Turnpike,
after a period of ill health of about
two years. He had resided in this
section for 25 years and was well
and favorably known.
He was born at Bombay. N. Y.,
Oct. 5. 1877, a son of the late Peter
and Hanora Shay Durant. He married
Miss Nora E. Dacey on May
29, 1919.
Surviving besides his widow, are
a son, Henry D. and a daughter.
Margaret M.. both at home; two
brothers, William of Brasher Falls
and Clarence of Vernon Center. He
leaves also his stepmother, Mrs.
Victoria Durant of Verona, and
several half-brothers and half-sisters,
Ernest, Lewis and Francis
Durant of Bombay; Floyd. Lyle,
Leiand. Wesley, Leslie. Adelbert
and Lawrence of Vernon; Mrs.
John Fisher of Verona; Mrs. Merton
Yaddow, Vernon Mrs. Orson
Durham, Oneida; and Mrs. Guy
Starks, Massena.
The funeral service will be held
Tuesday at 8:45 a. m. at his late
home and at 9:30 a. m. at St.
Helena's Church, Sherrill, where a
requiem high mass will be celebrated.
Interment, in charge of H. R. Alger
will be in St. Patricks Cemetery, Oneida.
